Tommasi Amarone 2000 - tasted on 26/12/05

Tasting Date: 26th Dec, 2005.
Venue: Home, wine bought from Watson's Wine Cellar IFC
Name of Wine: Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella DOC
Vintage: 2000
Region: Verona (N.E. of Italy)
Country: Italy
Producer: Tommasi -Viticoltori
Alcohol: 15%

The wine is clear (though it says it's unfiltered), deep ruby colored, with a garnet rim, & noticeable legs. It has a clean, medium-intensity, developing fruity, mainly blackcurrant, some dried grass, perfumed, liquorice & even a hint of freshly car wash nose. Full-bodied, dry, high acidity, medium-high tannins, high intensity. Plenty of black fruit, mainly blackberries, some dried fruit, dusty, tea leaves, a bit of wet leaves. High alcohol, good long length. It is good but should be even better if age for another 2 to 3 years.
