Chateau Cap De Faugeres - tasted on 7/1/06

Tasting Date: 7th Jan, 2006.
Venue: Home, wine bought from Vins Gallery Shatin
Name of Wine: Chateau Cap De Faugeres AOC Cotes de Castillon
Vintage: 2002
Region: Cotes de Castillon
Country: France
Alcohol: 13.5%
Price: $200

The wine is clear, deep ruby colored, with a narrow pink rim, & a few legs. Very little sediment is noticed. It has a clean, medium-intensity, youthful nose. Good fruity nose, with mint, dried prunes, blackcurrant, some hints of cinnamon, pepper, perfume & liquorice. Medium-bodied, dry, acidic, which is well balanced with its flavors, gives high level of soft tannins, pronounced intensity of flavours. Rich fruit, with some oak, dried prunes, hints of plums & chocolate & liquorice. Good complexity. High alcohol, long length. Fruit flavours linger in my mouth for a good period of time. I enjoyed this Merlot & Cab blend with surprises. It can be consumed now but still can keep for some several years, say 3 to 5 yrs. It is a good one.
