19/1/06 Tutored Tasting - Pouilly Fuisse 2002

Tasting Date: 19th Jan, 2006.
Venue: Karl's Office, Central
Name of Wine: Chanson Pouilly-Fuisse
Vintage: 2002
Region: Pouilly-Fuisse, Maconnais, Burgundy
Country: France
Price: $182

The wine is clear, with a pale lemon green colour. It gives a narrow watery rim & a few legs. It has a clean, medium-intensity, but not a very fruity nose. It has a smokey, citrus, minty, vegetal, peary & vanilla aroma. On palate it is dry & crispy, light-bodied, with a light fruity intensity. It doesn't have a very complicated flavour when it gets into the mouth, with some citrus & pear, slightly perfumed. Medium alcohol & medium length. While the wine is from Pouilly-Fuisse, it is apparently made from Chardonnay, with some oak ageing treatment. The wine can be consumed now, with approximately 1 - 2 more years cellaring time. It is a mid-priced wine & it's good.
